Monterey Rock and Rod Festival

BE A PART of the Seventh Annual Monterey Rock & Rod Festival and Best of the West Competitions, benefiting Gateway Center of Monterey County, Inc., May 17–18, 2013. This celebration of 50s & 60s rock and roll and custom & classic cars and trucks benefits the developmentally disabled adults of Monterey County. Become a sponsor, a vendor, an entrant, or just attend this great event!

This year’s festival features hundreds of 1975 and older vintage, customs, classics, hot rods, street rods, muscle cars, and trucks, located in the Salinas and King City Rooms and throughout the lawn and oak tree studded areas of the Monterey County Fairgrounds. There are also “Best of the West” competitions for cars and trucks, awarding trophies to the best of classics and customs in each division. We will also have many types of vendors—from quality food and classic car accessories to specialty items of all kinds.

Live rock & roll starts Friday evening at the Sock Hop held in the Monterey Room beginning at 6:00pm. On Saturday the car and truck show commences and live music will rock the Payton and Local’s Stages all day and night starring a variety of great groups including Gary Lewis & The Playboys .

Proceeds benefit Gateway Center’s Capital Campaign Program providing the developmentally disabled with a stimulating environment where they can achieve their goals with safety and dignity. Gateway Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation. You can help to make a difference in the lives of the men and women that Gateway serves.

FROM INFANCY TO THEIR GOLDEN YEARS , people with developmental disabilities deserve every opportunity to reach their fullest potential. Gateway Center of Monterey County, Inc. has led the way to fulfilling personal and occupational dreams for hundreds of people in Monterey County.

As our name implies, Gateway’s mission is to open a door of opportunity to everyone it serves. A 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization, Gateway Center is a premiere provider of high quality services and training for persons with one or more disabilities that can include mental retardation, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, and autism. These conditions, of course limit the scope of their dreams. But with our assistance, most can live, work, and participate in their communities, with (or sometimes without) supervision. From an expansive residential facility and semi-independent group homes to professionally run day programs that teach life skills, Gateway Center guides its participants on a path toward independence and self sufficiency. We do so by recognizing the needs of each individual in a supportive group setting. All of us associated with Gateway Center embrace a common philosophy and code of values. Gateway Center makes it possible not only to make dreams come true, but to have dreams in the first place.
